My Favorite Quotes and Life Lessons Learned

“Obstacles are what you see when you take your eyes off the goal.”

Isaiah, Chapter 41 verse 10: ” Fear thou not; for I am with thee. Be not dismayed; for I am thy God. I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.”

“Celebrate your victories.”   Every thing that you have you should cherish and thank God for your blessings. My dad always says this to me. We should learn to appreciate the things we have and celebrate our blessings everyday! Thanks dad! I love you!!!

“Do not go where the path may lead; go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.” Ralph Waldo Emerson

This quote represents being a leader and was important to me in my career and personal life by taking new paths and roads that eventually led to my success and happiness.

“Champions are champions not because they do anything extradinary but because they do ordinary things better than anyone else.”  Always do your best in whatever you put your mind to….Put your best foot forward you will always get good results.

    Hi Don –

Here is one of my favorite quotes that you would like:

    Knowing others is intelligent.
    Knowing yourself is enlightened.

    Conquering others takes force.
    Conquering yourself is true strength.

Knowing what is enough is wealth.
    Forging ahead shows inner resolve.
Hold your ground and you will last long.

    ~ Tao Te Ching, Lao-Tzu

Just wanted to wish you well Don. As I look through your web site it is apparent you haven’t changed–loving life, finding the positive and attacking–just like we did at the start of Parts Marketing. Good luck Don–I will be thinking of you and praying for better health. Your Friend Jerry

Don and Diann, As we look forward to the New Year I want to take this time to remember all the good times we have shared together and to let you know how very special the two of you are to Jeb and I…Time passes so fast and we forget to say the things that in our heart and before you know it it is another year so here’s to you and all the blessings that you deserve as you go along your journey… 0ne of my favorite quotes is by Mother Teresa “I know God will not give me anything I can’t handle. I just wish that He didn’t trust me so much!” OUR LOVE TO BOTH OF YOU Royce and Jeb

    • steffen5 Says:

      Royce and Jeb,

You both are very special to our family and I appreciate your friendship and all of the memories we have made and will be making the next time we see eachother and in the future. What a great quote and so true! I think I would have to completely agree with the latter portion of that qoute right now. Every time I think of you I always laugh at one of your adventures. The car wash, the turkey in the windshield….. No one in there right mind would believe me if I told them. Only you Royce! Jeb has to write a book about your journey. I really appreciate your love and support to my family and am so happy that Angela has the two of you as well. Diann and I are going to try and get to FL in the coming months and definitley want to see you both. I could use a Royceism for a laugh. Talk to you guys soon!
      We love you both!

      Don

  7. Jean & Bill Campbell Says:

Don, I’m not surprised that you are approaching this like you have everything in life…with the same “can do” attitude you have brought with you in all your endeavors. I always remember if we wanted to get anything done at John Deere we always knew to go to you. Bill and I will keep you, Diann and your family in our thoughts and prayers and hope that they find a cure or relief for ALS in the not too distance future.
    Regards,
    Jean & Bill Campbell

  8. Randy Richard Says:

This sounds like a dear friend that has influenced my life in many positive ways… well, ok, other than when you bought tickets to the Milwaukee Bucks game but instead took money off Dave in pool!!! Is this that guy???

    • steffen5 Says:

      Randy,

Yep believe or not its the one and only “The Don”. What a night we had. I have always enjoyed all of the good times that we have had together. Taking money from Dave is like taking candy from a baby. Too easy! I appreciate your kind words and am glad to hear that I have been an influential part of your life. Always got to be positive no matter the situation. I hope that you are doing well and keeping life interesting.

      Don

  9. Mark Fering Says:

I grew up in the Dakotas near a Sioux Indian Reservation…the Spirit Lake Tribe. This is one of the blessings used by their tribe:

“Always and everywhere, May the Great Spirit make Sunrise in your Heart.”

      Hi Mark,

Thanks for sharing this! What a nice blessing and great thought to appreciate. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers. I hope you are dong well. Blessings to you as well.
