Dad is in heaven smiling on all of us….

Today is one of the hardest days on my life for not only myself but for our entire family. My dad passed last night in his sleep with my mom and I by his side. Sometimes we don’t always understand why things happen in life but I do know that everything happens for a reason and God has a plan in which we are all a part of. My dads life was an amazing one and I had the pleasure of experiencing his legacy. I am very blessed to have the most amazing father in my life and it has been my honor to be his daughter. He was so very blessed to have all of you in his life in this journey here on earth.

Thank you from my and my families heart for enriching  all of our lives especially my fathers. My dad as you know is a very positive person and wants us all to be happy and smile when you think about him and the memories that you all shared with him.

We invite all of you to attend his “Celebration of Life” in honor of my father Don Steffen that will be held this Saturday, October 29th from 1-2:45 p.m with services at 3 p.m at Click Funeral Home located at 11915 Kingston Pike Knoxville, TN 37934.

My dad lived his life with zest and positivity and he would want us all to do the same and continue his legacy in this life. In lieu of flowers we would like to ask that you make a donation on behalf of Don Steffen  at http://www.steffenalsgolf.org

We appreciate all of your love, support, and prayers and wish you and your family all the best in this journey in life.

    Angela,

I was one of many privileged to be motivated by your Dad. He said “Live each day to the fullest.” I will try to do that. We were blessed to know Don.

    Diann and Angela,
I only knew Don for the nine months that he was in Hospice with us at UT, but in that short time I feel like I have known him my whole life. He touched all of our hearts and it was a great privilege to have been a part of his life. His smile lit up the room and he was always so appreciative of anything that anyone did! I will miss him so much! You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers…love you all very much

    Angela,
Your dad is one of my heroes. His selfless, courageous efforts to help others who are battling this disease (while locked in the battle himself) are a bright, shining testimony to the kind of life he lived! I know it must have been a beautiful moment when Don’s Creator looked at him and said, “Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!” (Matthew 25:23 NIV)
You and your family will be in my prayers–he was SO PROUD of you!

Peace to your family as you learn to adjust to the absence of your Dad and husband. I only met Don once, at the 2010 Knoxville walk, but I admired his strong commitment to increasing awareness of ALS. He and your family accomplished some amazing things that will make a lasting difference in the lives of others. He seemed to love having his family and friends nearby, so I am grateful that family was able to be with him as he took his final breath.

    Angela,

Wonderful words and a great testimony to the great relationship you had with your dad. I know he was as proud and fond of you as you were of him. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I regret that I won’t be able to make the funeral, but rest assured I will continue to support the ALS cause in Don’s memory and will do my very best to participate in the third annual Don Steffen golf event. God bless,
    Dick Yahnke

I am sorry to hear of your dad’s passing. I had the privilege of meeting with your mom and dad to set up a communication device and to loan some other equipment. I did not hear of his passing until after the celebration of his life, and would have liked to have been there with you and your family. I am sending thoughts to you all that you will find peace and comfort in this difficult time.
